What Is Osmolality?

Osmolality is a measure of the concentration of solutes (such as salts, sugars, and electrolytes) in a kilogram of solvent (typically water).

It indicates how many particles are dissolved in the liquid, which is important for understanding the body’s fluid and electrolyte balance.

In healthcare, osmolality is commonly assessed in blood, urine, or other fluids to evaluate hydration status, kidney function, or other metabolic conditions.
